  • Step 1: Remove the wood frame and sash or metal buck frame.
  • Step 2: Measure the window frame so you know what size replacement to get.
  • Step 3: Clean the window opening and remove any ridges of mortar.
  • Step 4: Place the replacement window in the frame and drill it in place.
  • Step 5: Fill in the gaps between the window and foundation.
  • Step 6: Put the window sash and screen back in and smooth away any mortar.Step 7: Apply primer to the bare parts of the wooden window.
  • Step 8: Finish.
